Apple rolls ‘College Prerequisites’ back to school promo

The rumors are true — though Apple has refreshed the marketing, their $100 iTunes Gift Card with new Mac purchase promotion is back. There’s a twist in that you can get a $50 Gift Card when you buy an iPad. Yes, it is technically only available to students, teachers and their families. As a practical matter, however, that essentially means anyone willing to tell a white lie or three.
Who qualifies?
To qualify for the Back to School Card [EDU Apple Store] offer and to get special pricing on a Mac at the Apple Online Store for Education, you must be a college student, a student accepted to a college, a parent buying for a college student, or a faculty or staff member from any grade level.
Buy a Mac for college through September 21 and get a $100 Back to School Gift Card. Get an iPad and here comes a $50 Gift card for you.
the Gift Card, which can be used to purchase products from any of Apple’s digital-only stores (Music, Movies, iOS Apps, TV Shows, iBooks, Audiobooks, etc.), will be provided at the time of purchase.
Not as sweet as Apple’s buy a Mac, get an iPod touch promo of yore, but pretty cool nonetheless…
What’s your take?

nice promo but Apple should provide free, I.e. zero percent, financing to students for 12 – 18 months. Students have enough loans to worry about. 12+% interest from Apple? Nonsense.
Yes, I am a long term Mac, iPod, iPhone and iPad user and own a bunch of Apple stock.
Apple should be more aggressive here with a financing incentive.
