iMovie 9.0.6 adds Retina MBP, 10 languages

this iMovie update is available on the mac app store and via software update, but not as a stand alone download.

Whereas the majority of yesterday’s software update were made available first or exclusively via Software Update, this iMovie update comes to us via the Mac App Store with no direct download link available as of press time. And, we all know where this is heading.

iMovie 9.0.3
— Enhancements for the MacBook Pro with Retina display
— Language support for Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, Turkish and Ukrainian

Of course, the good news buried in the Mac App Store transition is the simple fact that iMovie and its iLife siblings, the ones not killed off, are cheaper and available individual for $14.95 rather than only as a package.

The simple fact that many if not most of us didn’t buy iMovie 9.0.6 on the Mac App Store means it will probably eventually show up on Apple’s Support Downloads page, but that hadn’t happened as of this writing. But, there is an interesting and mitigating twist — the usual Knowledge Base article links are notably missing from Software Update.

Yup, we’re all Mac App Store shoppers now or will be soon…
