Parallels Desktop adds free Windows 8 download, install

Microsoft is betting the farm on Windows 8 and the transition to a mobile future. Whether you’re a user or developer, you can download and install Redmond’s Metro interface opus directly within Parallels Desktop after applying a just released update — the patch is free and so is Window 8 Preview Release.

Toepher Kessler at MacFixIt writes that the latest version Parallels Desktop now supports Window 8 Preview Release. Yes, earlier iterations were capable of running the beta version of Microsoft’s next-gen operating system, but the install and setup process was something less than automagical.

If you already have it installed, get Parallels Desktop 7.0.15095 Update now.

However, if you haven’t yet purchased Parallels, here’s a great incentive — for a limited time, get Parallels Desktop and 10 other great Mac apps in the MacUpdate Bundle for just $49.99. Parallels sells for that or more all by itself and you’ll get Civilization V and a bunch more apps essentially for free.

No coupon, rebate or shipping BS required.
