apple's warnings that user data would disappear at midnight

Apple said the end was nigh and that users needed to act quickly to save their precious photos, files and data. Well, except for fact that user data did not disappear at the stroke midnight and, of course, dot mac email addresses were never under threat, MobileMe is now totally and irrevocably gone.

Last Sunday, the Fairer Platform reminded readers that MobileMe was shutting down forever when the calendar clicked over from June 30 to July 1.

The deadline has passed and, despite dire warnings of irrevocably lost data, users have gotten a reprieve or maybe Apple was just bluffing to light a fire under the laggards. Whatever the case, MobileMe users can still download their data and/or migrate to iCloud.

Sooner or later, though, it will disappear for good.

As if we needed additional proof, procrastination always pays off right now…
