Verizon joins AT&T in blocking retail employees from taking vacations, which confirms the iPhone 5 launch date.

Time to start queuing outside your neighborhood Verizon Wireless Store? Chances are you will be able to walk right on iPhone 5 launch day, which the world + dog is quite certain will happen on September 21. In fact, it’s hard to get anymore certain.

Especially given the news out of Verizon today (TechCrunch) that Big Red retail employees can’t take time off from Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 30.

A trusted Verizon employee has just confirmed to TechCrunch that the carrier is having an all-staff vacation blackout from the dates of Friday, September 21 to the following Friday, September 30. You know what that means, right?

Yep, Friday, September 21 is the date sources, “people familiar with” and The Beard himself have said that the iPhone 5 will ship here in the US — nine days after Apple introduces the the iPhone 5 on September 12.

AT&T has also blacked out employee vacations for a similar timeframe.
