Podcasts 1.0.2: Another go at performance, stability

9 August 2012 1,150 views No Comment

Apple's Podcasts app for iOS is improved if not yet a fully realized vision.

The bullet points came with the previous dot-fix, which only partially delivered on the promised performance and stability improvements. That said, though still not smoothly responsive, Podcasts 1.0.2 is a noticeable if not fully realized improvement and gets us a bit closer.

Apple has released Podcasts 1.0.2 (free) and it arrives bearing just a single sentence description:

Podcasts 1.0.2 provides performance and stability improvements, including addressing an issue that may cause Podcasts to quit unexpectedly on launch.

If you skipped the last update, it’s worth nothing that Podcasts 1.0.2 rolls forward the fixes and feature tweaks delivered in v1.0.1.

I’ve played four podcasts in a row without freezing up or crashing, though there has been a big increase in audio hiccups — I’m using a first-gen iPad running iOS 5.1.1.
