A month after the fact, which is about par for an Apple acquire or, as seems to be the case this time, acqhired. Who the heck are these Particle people? In a nutshell, it is a cutting edge web app design firm that specializes in big marketing splashes.

What do Justin Timberlake and HTML5 have in common? For one thing, they share Particle, a web app dev that counts the singer turned actor, among others, as an investor.

News.com is reporting that Apple purchased Particle with the deal closing sometime last month.

Particle brings positive and energetic relationships with Google and the Chrome team specifically, as well as great Apple relationships and execution experience around iAds, iTunes Extras, and Apple.com. We have participated in and piloted much of the technology which will display the next generation of advertising and deliver media content for the next decadeAbout Particle

Interestingly enough, News.com adds that not all of Particle’s fewer than a dozen pre-acquisition employees have chosen to work at Apple.

Particle has also done work for other major A-list clients, including Moto, Amazon, Yahoo and Sony.
