Mountain Lion Screensavers: Let it snow!

There are few things more peaceful than the sight of gently falling snow. That said, for better and not so much, whether in a cubicle at work or because you live in some weatherless place, snow often is a luxury. The easiest, and warmest, workaround is a Mac screensaver — let it snow (wherever).
Here are a pair of free and “flakey” OS X Mountain Lion Mac screensavers, tested compatible on 2007 iMac.
• Flake-Saver (download)
— This is a simple OpenGL screensaver for OSX in cocoa
— Uses a very simple custom NSOpenGLView, as a subview of a ScreenSaverView/
— “It might be a handy starting point for other projects though”• LotsaSnow, download
— Displays pretty falling snowflakes, each unique, on your screen
Of these two, LotsaSnow (image above) is the more attractive.
That said, my favorite “unscreensaver” is Let It Snow ($0.99), a small application that runs in the background that brings falling snow to your Mac. It is very tweakable and doesn’t require a lot of resources — very pleasant.
