TenFourBird: An up-to-date PPC Mac email client

Your PowerPC Macintosh is running just fine and you have no need or desire to “upgrade”? Then you need TenFourBird, an up-to-date PPC Mac email client based on the currently shipping version of Mozilla’s popular open-source Thunderbird email app — you are not alone.
Apple’s support for PowerPC Macs formally ended with the release of OS X Lion on July 20, 2011 — don’t look for any PowerPC compatible application, operating system or security updates from the mothership. However, you are not entirely on your own.
Among the compatible third-party apps still getting regular updates are Floodgap’s TenFourFox and SourceForge developer t_mrc-ct’s TenFourBird, PowerPC compatible versions of Mozilla’s Firefox and Thunderbird, respectively.
That said, Mozilla has put Thunderbird development on a maintenance-only glide path, though the Thunderbird developer community has stepped up to fill the gap. To my knowledge, this is the only PPC Mac email client still being updated.
With email having decamping to the web and mobile devices, standalone clients are perhaps not long for the this world.
Do you know of another PPC Mac email that’s still being actively developed? Share a link in the comments…
