Our favorite Cupertino, California-based fruit company puts out digital camera RAW updates with regularity, which is a good thing for Mac fans with new cameras. For Mac heads sans cash, it’s just a regular reminder that another camera generation has arrived, but not for the rest of us — woe betides… Golly, the Sony Alpha NEX-6 is kinda neat.

— This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11: Nikon COOLPIX P7700, Olympus PEN E-PL5, Olympus PEN E-PM2, Olympus STYLUS XZ-2, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH3, Sony Alpha NEX-5R, Sony Alpha NEX-6 and Sony Alpha SLT-A99.

And, for what it’s worth, Amazon has the Sony NEX-6L/B 16.1 MP Compact Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LED (Black) for the low, low price of $998.
