Have you tried touching your desktop screen for an extended period? I tried and after doing so for five minutes, my arm felt like it weighed a ton. I just cannot see myself adjusting and moving video clips onto the FCP X time line using this form of input on my desktop Mac. It just does not make any sense from an ergonomic standpoint.

An iMac Touch? Maybe not.

An iMac Touch with Siri voice recognition to replace keyboard shortcuts? Now that’s a possibility.

It’s a few years away granted, but this is where we are heading.

I really hope not. I know touch is the new paradigm and it works great on tablets. But everytime someone gets a fingerprint on my beautiful iMac screen, it irks me. Imagine if all functions were controlled by fingers… I would have a stroke.

Perhaps when they come up with fingerprint-resistant materials for the screen…
