Mac browsers drop today. Not sure why the Opera folks pushed out an update on this day, but our friends at Mozilla are likely clearing the deck ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. However it happened, we’ve got fresh versions of Firefox, TenFour and Opera all on the same day.

Greetings from Mozillastan! Firefox 17 (release notes, download) is now available and, despite the whole number nature of the release, there isn’t a heckuva lot new in here:

• First revision of the Social API and support for Facebook Messenger
• Click-to-play blocklisting implemented to prevent vulnerable plugin versions from running without the user’s permission
• Updated Awesome Bar experience with larger icons
• Mac OS X 10.5 is no longer supported
• Complete bug list

And, for the folks not using OS X Mail and/or web mail, Mozilla has also released Thunderbird 17.

TenFourFox 17 (release notes) is the first version in the new stable release branch, based on the Firefox 17 ESR release. That said, all supported standard features of Firefox 11 through Firefox 17, including improved JavaScript performance, CoreGraphics acceleration, faster screen updates, additional HTML5 and CSS 3 features, and more.

Everyone’s favorite Norse code monkeys have released Opera 12.11 (change log, download), which is a straight up bug/security point update:

• Fixed a crash related to updating the state of some extensions’ toolbar icons
• Fixed several issues related to SPDY
• Gmail: Fixed an issue that could cause Gmail not to load
• Fixed an issue where HTTP response heap buffer overflow could allow execution of arbitrary code; see our advisory
• Fixed an issue where error pages could be used to guess local file paths; see our advisory
