Mac Deals: Photoshop Elements 11 for $49.99

Adobe Photoshop costs hundreds of dollars, requires a beefy Mac and, if you work hard, years to learn. For something more than half of the functionality at a fraction of the cost, there is Photoshop Elements 11 and Amazon is offering at a special price.

Here we go, boys and girls, the annual Fall run of Adobe Elements deals begins now.

Amazon is selling Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for just $49.99 (Prime), a 50 percent discount. That price will get you either the download or bits-on-atoms (DVD) versions.

And, for what it’s worth, Amazon also has Adobe Premiere Elements 11 for $84.99 (Prime), a 15 percent mark down.

That said, A close feature set substitute can be found in Pixelmator for $29.99. Alternately, if you need a really lightweight image editor (33MB installed), there is Flying Meat’s Acorn, also available for $49.99.

Lastly, there is GraphicConverter ($35), a shareware app that opens just anything you can throw at it — more value than you can shake a very large stick at.

Choice is a good thing™…
