Software is always a work in progress. Marry that idea with the apps used for antivirus and OS X maintenance, and here come updates that you need. Mark Allen and Northern Softwarks have released dot-fixes for their popular Mac utilities

Antivirus, it’s not just for Windows anymore. Honestly, you probably don’t need it, per se, but safety first.

That said, developer Mark Allen has released ClamXav 2.3.3 (download), the latest version of his open source-based free AV solution for the fairer platform. Features and fixes in this update include:

• Updated engine to ClamAV 0.97.6
• Fix for crashes on launch with OS X 10.8.1
• Fix for numerous Sentry crashes
• Added Czech localization

For those looking for a free AV + OS X maintenance, one-two-punch, then Northern Softworks has the integration you crave and, with a ClamXav update available, quite naturally Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner has gotten a spritzer, as well.

Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner 7.0.4 (features) is now available, including the updated ClamAV 0.97.6 engine plus minor optimizations and improvements on the maintenance side. Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner is shareware and can be downloaded here.
