How to: Make the 2012 iMac your desktop for free

The now shipping 2012 iMac is gorgeous and, unfortunately for many of the rest of us, out of reach. Nevertheless, you can put a piece of Apple’s latest all-in-one opus on your current by making the 2012 iMac’s internals your desktop picture.

All you have to do, and it is really easy, just click here and then right click, or two-finger tap, a choose “Use Image as Desktop Picture.

Alternately, you can first download the image — click through and save it to your Mac’s Pictures folder — and then manually select the image via System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop as your wallpaper.

And, if you are in the market for a brand-spanking new 2012 iMac, be a mensch and support the Fairer Platform by buying at the Apple Store or go for sales tax free at MacConnection — the 21.5-inch model is shipping now and the 27-inch is coming later this month.
