New IMDb for iPad, iPhone brings new UI, recommendations, more
Life is a buffet and one of the tasty plates around is IMDb, the Internet Movie Database. It’s a great place to while away a few minutes, hours or, it’s been known to happen, days soaking up celebrity dish, photos and clips. Who’s Gwyneth Paltrow’s hubby? IMDb knows and, if you own an iThing, the fastest and most beautiful way for you to know is to get IMDb for iPad, iPhone (v3.0, free), a major rewrite of this already popular app.
IMDb 3.0 looks a lot like Apple’s iTunes and Movie Trailer apps, which is a good thing. Specifically, movies, shows and personality are displayed and browsable in CoverFlow style.
Also new in v3.0 is recommendations — logging into your IMDb account now generates personalized recommendations. Again, this feature is similar to iTunes Genius feature.
IMDb has also integrated Facebook sharing, which is also a familiar theme. Seeing a trend?
Yes, there’s a lot to like in v3.0 IMDb for iPad, iPhone and much of the innovation looks a lot like what Apple has delivered in recent updates of their mobile iTunes and Movie Trailer apps.
This was a useful and fun app before this whole number refresh, but it’s now even better. I am very much liking the Apple/iOS-ification of IMDb 3.0…
