Patches on the patches with the occasional addition of new clothe. Or, put another way, I changed the head once and the handle thrice, but it’s still my grandfather’s axe. Today’s Mac updates remind us that no thing, especially software, is permanent.

First up, Apple has released iAd Producer 3.3 (landing page), an update of the company’s app/utility for creating and managing ads for release on the iAd network. The headline feature in this dot-fix is improved JavaScript usability, but there is more:

• Built-in documentation viewer for iAd JS JavaScript classes.
• The overview now correctly displays page snapshots for pages designed for iPhone 5 and iPod Touch (5th generation).
• The Store View inspector now supports setting text color, text shadow colors, button colors, and shadow attributes for button text.
• Other fixes and improvements

Are you an advanced photographer? Then you almost certainly work in the RAW format and could benefit from Iridient Developer 2 (version history), which comes to market with these new features, changes and fixes:

• Support for lens corrections including embedded lens metadata from some cameras (Olympus) and RAW formats (DNG), lens profiles (LCP files), automatic and manual chromatic aberration correction and manual distortion correction
• Newly designed image thumbnail browser with support for live updates
• Support for star ratings
• Support for IPTC, XMP and EXIF v2.3 metadata pass through
• Support for most all standard, non-RAW, image formats including JPEG, TIFF, PNG and more
• And, bunches of additional features, tweaks and fixes

Lastly, while the Apple TV isn’t a Mac, per se, it is very much a computer and one that shares code with the mothership’s full-fledged computers. If you are serious about your hockey puck Apple TV (black), then you’ve certainly been waiting for aTV 2.1 (blog):

• TV Show Playlists – easily pick up from the last unwatched episode
• Custom Favorites – create favorites from almost anything, including search terms
• Big speed improvements while browsing movies/shows
• Library and Search items can now be hidden from main menu
• Now showing ‘Writers’ instead of ‘Producers’ on pre-playback screen
• .ite folders are now hidden from view
• iOS 6 support
