Apple stopped selling the white MacBook back in 2011, but the company has just issued an SMC Firmware update for that venerable portable as well as the MacBooks Pro and Air. The issue addressed for all three products is a battery charging problem that Apple calls “rare.”

Every once in a while, Apple surprises and the appearance of a firmware update for this venerable white model is just such an event. Of course, the mothership should have issued this fix, but the company is often isn’t shy about dropping older hardware, and software, products through the cracks…
