Just Brilliant: iPad mini + Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard
Steve Jobs famously said, “The problem is netbooks aren’t better at anything,” and he was right — the iPad underscored the point by killing the category. However, the “idea” of the netbook wasn’t wrong per se, just the execution. The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard for iPad mini an example of how to do it right.
Thin, light and with all the right keys, right where your fingers expect them to be. The Bluetooth EasyType keyboard offers a traditional typing layout in a compact form factor. While the sleek, aluminium cover protects your iPad mini screen.
Logitech expects to start selling the Ultrathin Keyboard mini (blog) in early February, which gives them another week or so to get it out the door.
It looks well made, tailored to the precise needs and advantages of the iPad mini.
That said, I’m currently styling a refurbished iPad 3 with a Zagg keyboard case and have been very pleased with the combination, notably the all-day battery and sub-$500 out-the-door price. iPad mini + the Logitech’s Ultrathin Keyboard lowers the cost even further.
A hallmark of a truly brilliant product is how third-party manufacturers can embrace and extend — not some slapdash add-on — the original concept. Go Logitech…
