OpenOffice? Pfft! Mac users are moving to LibreOffice, get the new release. Also, today's Mac Updates include dot-fixes for Freeway, Dragon Dictate.

Does anyone still use OpenOffice or, for that matter, NeoOffice and ThinkFree? All three are still in development but PC And Mac users are increasingly focussing on LibreOffice for which there is a new whole number release. Also, today’s Mac Updates include dot-fixes for Freeway and Dragon Dictate.

When Oracle bought Sun, lots of folks worried about the future of Java and OpenOffice. Honestly, there’s no need to worry because both are buggered.

That said, perhaps it’s time to check out the son of OpenOffice, LibreOffice 4.0 (release notes, new features, download torrent). If you are already running LO 4RC3, this version is bit-for-bit identical to that.

And, PPC Mac lovers, you are not forgotten — Download LibreOffice 4.0 for PPC.

Also from the getting things done department come the Freeway Pro 6.0.1 and Express 6.0.1 updates from Softpress, the inevitable post-whole-number patches — just tweaks and bug fixes.

Lastly, if you do voice recognition, you know Nuance. Dragon Dictate 3.0.2 (release notes) is likewise just about fixes:

• Addressed issues related to intermittent pauses when using Microsoft Word 2011
• Addressed issues with cursor placement and word selection in lengthy Word 2011 documents
• Enhanced warning and instruction when Microsoft Visual Basic is not detected
