Amazon has upped its tablet game by dropping Kindle Fire HD prices across the board by up to $100. Get the wi-fi only model for as little as $269…

Perhaps not a world beater, but definitely good enough for a solid third place. In the rapidly growing tablet market, that is nevertheless a very good place to be and Amazon has upped its game by dropping Kindle Fire HD prices across the board.

Amazon has announced availability in UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan, as well as Kindle Fire HD price cuts of up to $100 here in the US.

16GB Kindle Fire HD w/ special offers, $269 (w/o $284)
— Was $299
32GB Kindle Fire HD w/ special offers, $299 (w/o $314)
— Was $329
• 32GB LTE Kindle Fire HD w/ special offers, $399 (w/o $414)
— Was $499
• 64GB LTE Kindle Fire HD w/ special offers, $499 (w/o $514)
— Was $599

Of course, these reduced Kindle Fire HD prices don’t do anything to boost its poor build quality, limited app selection and generally poor performance. However, knocking down the price by up to $100 is certain to make anyone considering an Amazon tablet a little more forgiving…
