Mac Games: Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition Hits MAS

Not a new Mac game, but the price and presentation are definitely fresh. It’s the entire Baldur’s Gate adventure — including the Sword Coast expansion and new, never-before-seen content — all running on an upgraded and improved Infinity Engine. Further there are new characters and even a new adventure, a lot for RPG fans to sink their teeth into.

Overhaul Games has released Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition ($19.99) on the Mac App Store.

Enhancements includes:

• New Adventure: The Black Pits
• New Character: Dorn Il-Khan (evil blackguard)
• New Character: Neera the Wild Mage (wild mage)
• New Character: Rasaad yn Bashir (Calishite monk)
• A new collection of player character voice sets
• Native support for high-resolution widescreen displays
• Over 400 improvements to the original game
• Improved multiplayer support with connectivity between all platforms
• Requirements: Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher

Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is also available for the iPad ($9.99).

So does that mean there is NO multiplayer right now? It doesn’t mention it in the mac app store or fro the ipad version. BTW multi-platform multiplayer is what will make me purchase this game.

According to Wikipedia, multiplayer is in there, but will be extended later with matchmaking functionality.

“The game features updated multiplayer, including cross platform multiplayer, which allows players from the different platforms being able to play with each other. It has been planned for the game to feature a matchmaking functionality for multiplayer in a future patch.”
