Mac Games: Steam 1.2, League of Legends Free, PainKiller Hell Coming, More
What a world of difference two years have made. Mac game news used to be the exception, the oddity. However, since the advent of Steam in early 2011, things have changed and that continues to roll with the latest Steam client update. And, yes, there’s more.
Fixes and tweaks. Valve has released Steam 1.2, which comes to market with the following changes bake in:

— Fixed popup menu visibility problems caused by popular third-party utilities
— Fixed an app shutdown crash that could occur on logout or system reboot
— Fixed a crash when quitting before the main window appears

Gone and Going Native Mac Games
Riot Games has announced an open and public beta of League of Legends, which is now available.
“Going native on Mac has been a big goal for us, and we’re really excited to offer the same experience across both platforms,” writes Riot. “The Mac client does everything that the PC client does, meaning you’ll get all future features, bug fixes and new content on the same schedule as PC players, but on your native OS. ”
Yep, that’s pretty cool and all the more so as it’s free to play — dig in.
That said, the good people at Inside Mac Games are reporting that Nordic Games is bringing Painkiller Hell & Damnation to the fairer platform with product set to ship in the April-May timeframe.
“Evil has returned! Demonic powers are manifesting themselves as a myriad of dark creatures, fighting over the fates of imprisoned souls caught in Purgatory,” goes the spin.
Whence Painkiller arrives, you will be able to kill more than 30 of the nastiest, darkest creatures from hell in 14 adrenaline filled levels, including 4 Boss levels.
Way too much fun for me…
