iSteve Now Streaming: Just Odd, Really Odd
Originally slated for release on Monday, April 15 — a day that shall live in infamy — Funny or Die’s iSteve, a Steve Jobs biopic parody, is now streaming. And, whereas the trailer (below) was oddly compelling, the 78 minute and 55 second movie is, well, just odd.
Starring Justin Long as Jobs and Jorge Garcia as Woz, this is not the story of Apple. Honestly, it seems a lot like the story of a few friends writing a movie with the aid of a big bag of pot. And, acid.
“He’s Annie with a mouse and a keyboard,” says one character of Long’s Jobs. Happened? No, but it’s one of the funnier moments in this movie.
In iSteve (full movie), everything is Jobs’ idea, including the Apple I and Apple II.
There is Steve’s “Luxo Junior” moment at a garage sale after getting the boot from Apple. And, then, George Lucas explaining midichlorians and the force. Melinda Gates popping in and out of the story in a series of strangely imagined “events,” including poorly rendered 3D models having sex in a virtual reality environment.
Unable to defeat Apple and Jobs, the Commodore guys commit suicide — it happens in the movie. Steve discovering Justin Long. Hosting Saturday Night Live, almost. Drinking beer in a honky tonk.
The story, the timeline, (almost) everything in this movie is made up. From beginning to end, it must have been really good pot.
So, if you dare, watch iSteve…
