If you tilt your head just right and close one eye, Blackberry BBM Music and Apple’s industry-beating media store and player platform are directly competitive. Nevertheless, iTunes kills again — BBM Music is being shuttered before reaching its second birthday.

Crackberry reports that Blackberry has announced in an email to customers that its BBM Music service will shutdown for good in a little less than two months:

BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013. For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available.

In addition to a month of free service, Blackberry is offering BBM Music subscribers a 30-day Rdio pass to help tide them over.

Blackberry (nee Research in Motion) launched BBM Music in August 2011.
