While Aperture 3 was released in 2010, Adobe just pushed out Lightroom 5 beta. Today's Mac App Update report has that story and more…

You are only as good as your most recent release. Whereas ClamXav and Geekbench keep it fresh, Apple’s Aperture hasn’t seen a whole number release since 2010, while Adobe has unveiled its second Lightroom update in as many years. Today’s Mac App Update report has the details.

Developer Mark Allen has released ClamXav 2.3.5 (download), which includes the updated ClamAV (0.97.7) engine. This popular antivirus app is also available on the Mac App Store (free).

If you have a Mac with 2GB RAM and running OS X 10.6.8 or later, you can also get and run Adobe’s Lightroom 5 beta (download). The biggest deal in this upcoming whole number release is the Advanced Healing Brush, which allows users to easily remove objects and fix defects.

Aperture 3.0 hit the streets back in February 2010. The most recent incremental update, v3.4.3, arrived November 2012.

Primate Labs has pushed out Geekbench 2.4.3 (download). Somewhat surprisingly, this version is largely about Blackberry 10 specific updates:

— Added support for sharing benchmark results with other applications on BlackBerry 10.
— Improved interface layout on BlackBerry 10.
— Improved processor model detection on BlackBerry 10.
— Fixed a bug where system information was invisible on the BlackBerry Q10.

Last in today’s Mac App Update report is SeaMonkey 2.1.7 (download), which is a patch for v2.17. What’s new? SeaMonkey isn’t saying.
