While everyone was obsessing over the iPhone 5S, Apple surprised just about everyone with the launch of Logic Pro X

While everyone was obsessing over the iPhone 5S, Apple surprised just about everybody with the launch of Logic Pro X, headlined by Drummer, an automagical session drummer that plays in a range of styles.

Logic Pro X is our most powerful version yet, with advanced tools and a modern new interface designed to streamline the process of creating professional quality music,” said Philip Schiller in a press release. “Musicians are going to love creative new features like Drummer, Flex Pitch, Track Stacks and the Arpeggiator.”

Logic Pro X requires a Mac running OS X 10.8.4 or later — Can my Mac run OS X Mountain Lion? — with 4GB RAM and 5GB of disk space. An additional 35GB of content is available via in-app download.

Logic Pro X ($199.99) and MainStage 3 ($29.99) are available today from the Mac App Store. Logic Remote is available as a free download from the App Store.
