GameChanger iPad to Score Little League World Series
Call it a sign o’ the times. This year’s Little League World Series will be scored on the iPad. Although not a direct Apple innovation, there is no question who made it all possible.
Pencil on paper? That’s just so Honus Wagner.
The 2013 Little League World Series, to be held August 15 through 25 in South Williamsport, PA, will employ 35 iPads to record every pitch, hit and tag, scores of games, using the GameChanger (free) app and live update system.
“With 2.4 million Little Leaguers around the world, modern technology is a great asset in communicating with all our players, coaches, families, volunteers and fans,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League Baseball and Softball President and CEO in a press release. “Utilizing GameChanger for scorekeeping and live game updates, will bring the Little League experience to life to an online and mobile audience like never before.”
According to GameChanger Media, 90,000 teams around the world will use GameChanger this season, which is a stunning testament to their app’s success as well as the insanely adaptable and powerful iPad.
There are people who generate lots of page views with “Apple can’t innovate anymore” stories, but Little League and GameChanger really put the lie to that narrative — it’s not iPad per se, but rather what other people do with it…
