6 August 2013 2,041 views One Comment

First and foremost, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video just got some serious competition. With more than 5,500 movies on your Roku and 1,500 titles via your neighborhood Redbox location, the Redbox Instant offer is simple and attractive — unlimited online and four DVD rentals per month for $8. Here’s how to get it.

Roku and Verizon have jointly announced that Redbox Instant is now available on Roku:

— Access to 5,500+ streaming movies and 1,500+ movies currently at Redbox kiosks
— The ability to locate and reserve movies and video games at more than 43,000 Redbox kiosks nationwide
— Movie trailers and user reviews
— Bookmark functionality to keep track of all movies discovered
— The option to start, stop and resume watching a movie
— Parental controls to manage on-demand purchasing and content restrictions

Available to US residents with a Roku 3, Roku 2, Roku HD (model 2500) or Roku LT (models 2400 & 2450) player or the Roku Streaming Stick

Setup Redbox Instant

Getting started with Redbox Instant on Roku is super easy — turn on your TV, switch to the video input to the Roku. On the Roku remote, press the Home button, navigate to the Channel Store and go to new.

Navigate to Redbox Instant, press OK and then press Add Channel.

To view the movies you will need an account and Roku + Redbox Instant are offering a free one-month trial.

For those of you still without a Roku, there are deals to be had — save $10 on Roku HD and save on refurbished Roku boxes.
