…Eventually come to an end, especially Apple generosity. The mothership sent out email notices to former paying MobileMe members that their free 20GB iCloud storage upgrade will end, unceremoniously, on September 30.

Dear Bucky D Chuck,

As a thank you for being a former MobileMe member, you received a 20 GB complimentary storage upgrade when you moved to iCloud. Your upgrade expires on September 30, 2013.

When it expires, your iCloud storage will be automatically adjusted to the free 5 GB plan. You are currently using 1.13 GB of storage.

For more information, see this article.

The iCloud Team

September 30 will mark the end of a more than two-year transition from the beginning of iCloud, which arrived as part of OS X Lion, to the cutting of the final MobileMe cord — a long and tangible unravelling.

Yep, once upon a time, people paid $99 a year, assuming they couldn’t buy it on the cheap, for email, address book, calendar and system setting data syncing, as well as web publishing. How far we have come…

What’s your take?
