iOS 6 vs iOS 7, it’s like comparing apples and apples. That said, Jony Ive and Forstall are the physical embodiment of the conflict between the past and omnipresent future of iOS — a picture that’s worth a lot more than 1,000 words.

Certainly we have all used iOS 6 and, at the very least, seen iOS 7. A new graphic juxtaposes how the icons in Apple’s mobile OS that have changed in a cleverly revealing way that also highlights the physical differences between Apple senior VP of design, Jony Ive, and Scott Forstall, who once headed Cupertino’s software teams.

That said, I hadn’t fully realized how severe Jony Ive looks until Gadget Love published the above animated GIF that juxtaposes him with Scott Forstall.

Was his smile always so cloying and needy?

And, honestly, I don’t hate skeuomorphism — neither torn paper edges nor green felt ever elicited gagging, revulsion or fits of rage in me.

At the end day of the function trumps form and iOS has just worked for me. So, although it’s chock full o’ eye candy of a different sort, the new functionality in iOS 7 is gonna be great — really looking forward to it.

Which brings up an important point — who isn’t glad Scott Forstall is gone?
