Beta no more. Apple’s official Siri page has been updated and the beta tag is now gone. But is she really ready for prime time?

Apple’s digital assistant came to market baked into iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011 and, ever since, it’s been a beta. No more. Apple’s official Siri page has been updated and the beta tag is now gone, but is she really ready for prime time?

Here’s how the the page read earlier this week:

Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply.

And, now, Apple’s Siri page reads thusly:

Siri is available on iPhone 4s or later, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply.

So, is Siri now ready for prime time, to shed the beta tag?

The considered opinion of the interwebs, including AppAdvice and New York Times, is a considered, yes.

“In iOS 7, Siri gets a new lease on life with humanized speech characteristics and a larger conversation bank,” writes AppAdvice’s Dom Esposito. “In my opinion, Siri in iOS 7 is much better than it was in iOS 6.”

To whit, NYT’s David Pogue adds, “Siri has the edge,” over Android.

Looking forward to the upgraded Siri in iOS 7?
