An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and here three Mac updates to help keep you safe. Adobe has delivered a Flash for Mac update, which promises OS X Mavericks compatibility, not necessitated by an Apple XProtect update. Microsoft Office for Mac and ClamXav make appearances, as well.

• Flash Player 11.9.900.117 (download)
— Mac OS X 10.9 Support — Tested against the latest developer releases of OS X 10.9 and are ensuring that Flash Player continues to perform as expected.
— Safe Mode in Safari 6.1 and higher
— Flash Player Mac .pkg Installation Support

• Office for Mac 2011 14.3.8 Update (download
— This update fixes critical issues and also helps to improve security. It includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer’s memory with malicious code.

And, believe it or not, Flash for Mac 11.9.900.117 contains no security content — it’s Adobe’s regular feature and bug update.

A couple hours after Fairer Platform reported the arrival of ClamXav 2.6, developer Mark Allen pushed out a minor update. So, if you missed ClamXav 2.6.1, get it now.
