Young Adults Flock to Netflix as Cable’s Luster Fades

Cord cutters are one thing and cable nevers are quite another. Yes, cable TV providers have been bleeding subscribers, which should be alarming to Time Warner, Comcast et al. However, the big (encouraging) news is the large number of young adults who love Netflix, etc, but have never subscribed to cable and, perhaps, never will.

Harris Interactive adds some flesh to that narrative with this survey, showing that nearly as many young adults use Netflix as subscribe to cable TV.

Back in the day, when the Apple II was king of PC biz, Steve Jobs fretted that too few people knew how to type/use a keyboard. He and others then realized that time, and death, would take care of the problem — the Macintosh helped with that, as well.

Me thinks time, and death, will take care of cable TV in much the same way. As shown above, older Americans greatly prefer cable TV, but they won’t be around forever.

And, honestly, once you’ve tried binge watching, whether Netflix, Hulu, Redbox, iTunes or whatever, it’s really hard to back to watching Big Bang Theory at 8pm on Thursday night.
