It’s just an app — why write up every little update? Some apps, like VLC for Mac, are seriously important and, in the open source space, VLC for Mac is right at the top of the list, critical.

If you have the MKV file from hell, VLC is the solution.

VLC for Mac 2.1.2 (download)
— Add a language option in the interface
— Option to control VLC’s iTunes pausing behavior is more easy to find
— Improved UI resetting when requested in the preferences
— Fix issue which prevented to enable more than one video filter on Mavericks
— Fix an issue which could prevent automatic UI language settings from working
— Fix opening subtitles files through drag-and-drop or double-clicking
— Fix crash when closing window without decorations
— Fix issue where extra video window was resized even if this was disabled
— See full change log for info on demuxed, codec, etc updates

And, if you’re gonna have VLC for Mac, HandBrake is needed, very needed.
