Skype for Mac 6.14: Refined UI, Better Mavericks Compatibility
Has Skype for Mac gone down hill since Microsoft taken over? Meh and it hasn’t gotten much better either. But it has gotten better and here is a fresh taste of that. Skype for Mac 6.14, in addition to squishing bugs, all brings a refined user interface, better OS X 10.9 (aka Mavericks) compatibility and the ability to turn off Notifications.
• Skype for Mac 6.14 (download)
— Refined UI and improved compatibility with OS X Mavericks
— Can now turn off all notifications, such as new message sounds, by setting your status to Do Not Disturb
— Ability to adjust the size of text in the conversation pane > Choose “Make Text Bigger” from the View menu.
— Bug fixes, including sound output from Skype to Bluetooth headphones and speakers caused by a change in the way that OS X reported available devices, and mach port leak on Mavericks which could lead to slowness and, in some cases, kernel panics
The best way to leave Skype for Mac behind? Teach your friends, relatives and colleagues about FaceTime. While your mileage could vary, FaceTime is more reliable, easier and, best of all, there is no unpleasant Redmond aroma to it…
