Of course, you can get the latest and greatest version of SimCity Mac. Yes, that is cool, but there is no school like old school and SimCity 4 is now available on the Mac App Store.

“We’re so happy to give SimCity fans on the Mac a new chance to play this classic title,” said Elizabeth Howard, vice president, publishing, Aspyr Media. “We took extra time updating the game to offer SimCity 4 players the best possible experience on the Mac, and we think both old and new players alike will come away impressed.”

SimCity 4 Mac Features, Gimmes

— Full control over the environment and the ability to unleash natural disasters to create (and destroy) a world all your own
— Ability to deploy emergency vehicles and join in the action as they battle blazes, mobs, and more
— New transportation options, including monorail and ferry system
— Interconnectivity with The Sims, allowing players to import their sims into their city
— FREE Rush Hour expansion pack (more control over transportation options)
— Two bonus disasters: UFO attack and Autosaurus Wrecks

We even included the exclusive Mac “Custom Tunes” feature that allows your iTunes library to be played in the game!

At $19.99, SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition is not cheap, per se. This 11-year-old classic updated for OS X 10.8.5 or later is value priced.

System requirements are relatively low: 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 3870 or Geforce 8800 or later (128MB) plus a Mac keyboard and mouse. For a full listing of supported video cards, click here.
