G4 Stormtrooper: Not Just Another Hackintosh

You aren’t broke, but don’t have much money and your beloved MacBook Pro just died, again. What to do? Tonymacx86 member Anton Vodenitcharov took matters into his own hands, creating a classy Hackintosh inside a Power Mac G4 case.

“And one or two months ago, the GPU from my macbook pro decided to die…(for the second time) as I hadn’t enough money to buy a new macbook, I decided to built my dream Hackintosh,” writes Vodenitcharov.

His hackintosh, which he calls “another G4 Stormtrooper Haswell,” is a combination of off-the-shelf PC components and a Power Mac G4 case that he purchased on eBay. Also, the project isn’t for the faint of heart as it requires some serious case modding, including not a little painting, sanding and other DIY fun, like manually grinding off motherboard mounts.

Another G4 stormtrooper? Yep, Anton followed the trail blazed by an Insanely Mac member “mishkakow”, who created a hackintosh he called “MacBane” — cool name and a sneaky geek inside joke.

You will need gumption, time, some skill and, yes, a Dremel tool. And, yes, you might even need to give a little blood, too.

Nevertheless, pretty darned cool…
