Apple Store: From Zero to 254 in 60 Seconds

Watch the Apple Store grow from one to hundreds of locations, accompanied by historical footnotes that inform and delight — good stuff…

For regular Fairer Platform readers, this is familiar ground. However, whereas the animation in our earlier Watch the Apple Store Grow, From One to Hundreds piece was merely adequate, this go ’round is beautiful and informative.

The folks at Retale have put together a nifty animation showing US Apple Store growth from 2001 through 2014. Moreover, in addition to the usual bunch of animated dots, they’ve spiced things up by making the dots clickable and adding an animated historical timeline.

Retale Salutes Apple’s 13 Years in Retail!
The first Apple store opened at 10 a.m. on May 19, 2001, at Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Virginia. The second opened three hours later at 10 a.m. Pacific Time at Glendale Galleria in Glendale, California. While most retailers are finding it hard to keep brick-and-mortar stores profitable, Apple continues to open new outlets all over the world (424 and counting). At Retale, we are interested in the successful balance between online and offline retail markets. So what better way to tip our caps to Apple’s 13th year in retail than by exploring its phenomenal growth and innovation.

Again, check out Retale’s nice work, which they’re using to promote their website and mobile app…
