512K Mac Boots Up After 30 Years in a Box
As the sons and daughters of this newfangled technology age, it’s our job to keep our parents’ Macs running. For original Mac team member Chris Espinosa, it is no different, though there is a 512K Mac twist to his tale.
“Today my mom asked me to see if her 30 year old Mac worked,” wrote Chris Espinosa on his imgur account. That’s where he posted a visual account of his successful effort to revive mom’s 30 year-old 512K Mac.
The 512K Mac rig Espinosa got for mom all of those years ago includes an Apple Hard Disk 20 (ie 20MB) and an ImageWriter printer (not shown). Both devices run on the Mac’s serial bus, which was about as slow as slow could be.
Espinosa’s picture set includes additional images, so be sure to click through.
Chris Espinosa is one of the original Mac team members and, in fact, is still an Apple employer — his employee badge carries the number eight.
