NeoOffice 3.2.1 Adds Lion Versions, Fullscreen, Resume Modes

Where do open source and free meet? That’s become an increasingly sticky question. In this case, it’s someplace down the road a bit. But, if you’ve got $10, or already paid this year, NeoOffice has fresh OS X 10.7 features for you.

Planamesa is offering NeoOffice 3.2.1 to paid subscribers and eventually, one suspects, to the rest of us. This is a point update by name, but it packs major new Lion-flavored functionality.

• Versions: Allows NeoOffice to save and restore previous versions of your documents

• Full-Screen mode: Expand a window to fill the entire screen by clicking a new button in the window title bar

• Resume: Automatically reopen the documents that were open the last time that the application quit

Earlier this year, Fairer Platform asked When is free not free?, but the answer remains elusive. Some folks have already voted with their feet, but I suspect they weren’t the paying kind and their “support” didn’t put food on the table.

I believe that Planamesa honors the letter and, depending on your point of view, spirit of GPL. Moreover, NeoOffice is certainly worth $10 a year or nothing if you can wait…

What do think?
