Every six weeks or so, whole number releases of Firefox and Chrome arrive. I can’t remember the last time either delivered much in the way of innovation. A counterpoint to version inflation is Pixelmater 2.1.3, which arrives labeled as a mere point update yet delivers a lot of added functionality.
Pixelmator 2.1.3 (blog) is now available via Software Update feature of the Mac App Store. That said, though the Pixelmator Team only advertises five bullet points in the blog write up about this release, there is actually a lot more going on:
• Soft Proofing
• Full sRGB support
• Full ColorSync support
• New Color Management dialog look
• Italian and Spanish languages added
The additional detail, including more color management features and a score-plus bug fixes, can be found in the release notes. Top mentions here include enhanced PSD and Automator support.
So, Pixelmator’s gained major color management features, improved PSD file and automation functionality? Yeah, they are gunning for Photoshop and the asking price, $29.99, is very available. Frankly, Adobe is very vulnerable.
