And, it is official. NBC will stream its Super Bowl coverage for free. Starting at 12pm noon on Sunday, February 1, the US TV network will offer its Super Bowl coverage, all 11 hours of it.
“It’s just a great means to promote TV Everywhere and our products,” said Rick Cordella, senior vice president and general manager for digital media at NBC Sports Group. “With the Super Bowl, we will have maximum eyeballs on it.”
Traditionally, the Super Bowl is the most watched US television program of the year. Last year, 112.2 million people around the world, though mostly in the US, watched the NFL’s biggest pageant. For fans of the American sport, especially those who’ve given up on traditional pay TV, this is a big deal.
Last year, just over 1 million watched the Super Bowl live stream.
