Java for OS X 2015-001 Beta: For Legacy Apps On OS X 10.11

Java for OS X 2015-001 Beta

Are you an Apple Developer testing OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) and needing Java 6 to run legacy apps? Yep, the world is a strange, wonderful place and this is the Java 6 runtime installer you need for OS X 10.11.

• Java for OS X 2015-001 Beta (download)

— Java for OS X 2015-001 beta installs the legacy Java 6 runtime for OS X 10.11 El Capitan

— This package is exclusively intended for support of legacy software, and installs the same deprecated version of Java 6 included in the 2013-005 release

On systems that have not already installed Java for OS X 2012-006 or later, this update disables the Java SE 6 applet plug-in. To use applets on a web page, click on the region labeled “Missing plug-in” to download the latest version of the Java applet plug-in from Oracle.

For everyone else (ie the missing plugin people), get the latest version of Java for Mac here.
