A pay forever antivirus solution or more games for the iPad right now and for years to come, hmm? This is best (free) AV software for the Mac. Since being completely rewritten in Objective C (Java is gone), ClamXav is pretty darned fast and updated with reassuring frequency — it runs every night on my Mac.

Mark Allen has announced the release of ClamXav 2.0.7, which deals with some bugs but also brings updated functionality to the table:

• Scanning engine updated to ClamAV 0.96.2
• Hold option key while clicking “start scan” toolbar icon to update defs immediately prior to scan
• New ClamXav Sentry icon and menu bar graphics
• Dealing with errors better – in particular the infamous “error” 2
• Improved Installation and Update procedures
• Improved stability in ClamXav and Sentry
