Mavericks Updates: Apple Seeds OS X 10.9.2 Beta 2
With the launch of Mac Pro, OS X 10.9.1 Update and the first beta of OS X 10.9.2, the week before Christmas was a busy Mac week for Apple. A month later, they’ve gotten back on the ball with a fresh Mavericks update beta.
OS X 10.9.2 13C39 is now available to registered Mac developers. Apple is asking testers to focus on Mail, Messages, Graphics Drivers, VoiceOver, VPN and SMB2 — that last item is “new” on the list. That said, Apple has been working on SMB issues in both the client and server versions of OS X 10.9 for some time.
Although it’s early yet, the provisional list of new features in this still brewing Mavericks update are FaceTime Audio calling and, this one’s an addition in OS X 10.9.2 Beta 2, the ability to block people in Messages. There’s also FaceTime Audio integration in Messages, which is perhaps 0.25 of a feature.
For the rivet counters, MacRumors forum poster jessejarvi has published a list of updated kext files in OS X 10.9.2. And, yes, boys and girls, there are many new graphics driver bundles, more than 50!
Here’s hoping Apple finally licks the various graphic issues that affect OS X 10.9 with this Mavericks update.
